In 2009, Jenny was diagnosed with cancer, which she views as a great opportunity and a watershed in her life. It brought her friendships with fellow travellers on the cancer journey and with the wonderful staff and volunteers at the Penny Brohn Cancer Care centre in Bristol. One day, whilst on a mini-retreat at the centre, it came to her like the proverbial thunderbolt that there is a need for a bespoke service for people faced with life-threatening conditions to help them to prepare for what is to come - emotionally, spiritually, physically and practically - a holistic approach that would enable them to take back control and to find peace in the knowledge that they have have done all they can to 'die well' whenever the time comes.
