Hypnotherapy FAQ

Hypnotherapy - Frequently Asked Questions

Q.  Can everybody be hypnotised?
A.   Yes, but only if you want to be. Nobody can ever be hypnotised against their will and even when hypnotised, people can still reject any of the suggestions given if they are not appropriate.

Q.  Will I be asleep?
A.   No - just feeling really relaxed and comfortable.  If you were to stand and look at yourself, it would look as if your body was asleep - but you may be following what is said in your mind or drifting off to exciting places!

Q.  Am I in control?
A.   You will hear everything that is said but there is no need for you to listen.  You will take on board everything you wish to.  As the unconscious mind is there to protect you, it continues to be 'on guard' and would therefore stir naturally out of the trance state if you ever felt uncomfortable.

Q.  How does it feel?
A.   Different for everyone - but always enjoyable! You'll feel totally relaxed but in control.

Q.  Are there any side effects?
A.   Yes - you will feel more confident about everything and sleep better.

Q.  Can I bring someone along with me?
A.   Yes, although most feel people feel more comfortable on their own, but you can bring someone with you if you like. Sometimes people come together for moral support. For children and young people under 18, you must be accompanied by your parent or guardian.

Q.  How long will it take?
A.  Each session lasts around 1 hour - although the initial session will need a little more time - about an extra 30 minutes.

Q.   How many sessions will I need?
A.   This will depend on the individual - although many problems can be sorted within 2 - 6 sessions.

Q.  How much does it cost?
A.  The fee is £45 an hour, plus a small contribution towards room hire in the practices away from Caerphilly.
